Check-Ups / Cleaning & Scaling / Gum Exams

Regular visits to the dentist are necessary in maintaining your body’s overall health. That’s because the state of your mouth, teeth and gums can affect your general wellbeing. Bacteria from oral infections can enter into your bloodstream. These organisms can increase your risk for other conditions, including diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disorders.

What to Expect at a Dental Check-Up

At DoubleTree Dental, we recommend a dental check-up once every 6 months. However, patients who are at higher risk for gum disease and cavities may need to see us more frequently. Even if you’re practicing good oral hygiene at home, you’ll still need to see a dentist regularly.

Our team will check for problems you may not feel, or are not easily visible. Many oral health issues don’t cause pain until they enter more advanced stages. Some of the issues we watch for include cavities, gum disease and oral cancer.

Patients at DoubleTree Dental can depend on excellent service in a professional, yet comfortable, atmosphere. During an exam, our dentists will:

1. Evaluate your oral hygiene and whether it’s affecting your overall health
2. Assess your risk for tooth decay, root decay and gum/bone disease
3. Check your bite and jaw for issues
4. Take dental X-rays or perform other diagnostic procedures as necessary
For those who have dentures or replacement teeth, we still recommend regular dental exams. This is an opportunity for our team to demonstrate proper cleaning techniques and assess whether adjustments are necessary.
What to Expect During a Dental Cleaning
Regular teeth cleanings are crucial in preventing severe oral issues and identifying problems early on. These in-depth cleaning sessions are designed to remove plaque and tartar deposits that have built up on teeth over time. Plaque is a sticky film that contains bacteria. If not removed regularly through brushing and flossing, this film can rot your teeth and cause gum disease.
