How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign is a custom-made aligner. The aligners are changed roughly about every two weeks for a period of six to 18 months, depending on the severity of the misalignment. When Invisalign is worn regularly, this high-quality dental device has the ability to shift your teeth into proper position. The clear aligner is created from a computer-generated mold. Double Tree Dental Centre uses special technology to take an impression of the patient’s teeth. This impression is then sent to Invisalign laboratories in order for the aligners to be constructed.
How does Invisalign differ from traditional braces?
Aside from the fact that Invisalign is virtually unnoticeable, the biggest difference between clear aligners and traditional braces is that the former is completely removable. Patients can take out these plastic mouth trays when brushing, flossing and eating. This allows for better hygienic care as it’s always been difficult to clean food particles and micro-bacteria from old-fashioned braces.

Another big difference is that Invisalign is easy on the cheeks and gums. Wire braces can be very painful because they often contain sharp edges that can damage the inside of the mouth. Patients using Invisalign never have to worry about scrapes and cuts.
How long does it take to straighten teeth?
Although actual time will vary from person to person, a course of treatment for a typical adult will take about 12 months. However, many of our patients begin to see noticeable results in as little as two or three months.

Those with more severe alignment issues will have to undergo longer treatment periods. Common issues often involve overcrowding, misaligned bites and gaps between teeth. Even if your teeth need small corrections, treatment can take longer if you don’t wear your Invisalign trays regularly.
Is Invisalign right for you?
Invisalign is very effective in correcting a range of common dental problems. If you suffer from the following issues, these smooth, clear devices may be right for you:
  • Gapped teeth

  • Mild bite problems, including crossbites and open bites

  • Overcrowding typically caused by a mouth that is too small for all teeth
